MLK fought for what he believed in. He didn’t let fear or the opinion of others stop his mission. He also had a good balance of kindness and assertiveness. His spirits remained high even when he faced adversity. He has a lot of traits that I value.

Why I love my job:

I love my job because I can make a difference. It feels good knowing that the work I’m doing in the Finance Department is helping other team members make decisions that will support 50can’s mission.

My connection to public schools:

I went to public school all of my life. The older I got, the more I realized how important education is in shaping our futures. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a privileged area with quality education. I believe everyone should have that opportunity, regardless of where they live.

What I’m bad at:

I’m bad at public speaking. Sometimes I get nervous when I have to make presentations. I think the more I expose myself to public speaking, the better I’ll get. For now, it’s a work in progress.

Children are the future. It’s a cliché, but it’s true. Being able to help more children get a quality education is important because they’ll grow up to be important decision-makers in our society. I’d like to know that the future is in good hands.
