Change Agents: What Social Simulations Can Teach Public Policy Advocates
May 2023

Sometimes creating an artificial world where one can test out nearly unlimited scenarios and conditions offers the best insight into effective ways to advance change. That’s exactly what a pioneering group of social scientists has done with surprising and illuminating results. In the latest AdvocacyLabs report, we focus on the frontiers of advocacy research by mining the world of social simulations.

Author Marc Porter Magee explores how social scientists are creating computer models of society that grow and change over time. The starting point is a shift in perspective from one focused on individuals in a specific time and place to one focused on the patterns that arise over time through the interactions of hundreds or thousands of people.

AdvocacyLabs is a collaboration between FutureEd and 50CAN.
