PennCAN has done many great things since its launch less than a year ago, but until now, we’ve been without an online home to call our own. It turns out launching a new organization in the middle of a legislative session requires quite a bit of time and energy, which is why we’ve focused on our activities in Harrisburg instead of our activities in cyberspace. Fortunately we’re now in a position to do both. And when PennCAN takes on a challenge, we believe in going big or going home.
Needless to say, we didn’t go home.
I’m proud to welcome you to the new and improved penncan.org, which will serve as the home base for our advocacy. PennCAN’s brick-and-mortar headquarters is a few hundred square feet of office space in the Public Ledger Building in Philadelphia. But this website provides infinite “square footage” to get informed and stay connected to Pennsylvania’s education reform movement through features such as:
- A research repository. In our research section you can access all of PennCAN’s original research on Pennsylvania public schools, including our new, interactive ‘State of Pennsylvania Public Education’ report.
- Campaign headquarters. This year PennCAN is running two issue campaigns: Reward Excellence and Freedom to Succeed. Visit each campaign page to find out more about the issue, get the latest campaign updates and find out how you can get involved.
- PennCAN’s School & District Report Cards (coming soon). In a few weeks we’ll be releasing our school & district report cards, which provide useful information on every one of Pennsylvania’s 3,000+ public schools and 500+ school districts.
So please, make yourself at home and click around to see what our new virtual digs have to offer. And then come back again soon.
