Marc Porter Magee Ph.D is the CEO and founder of 50CAN: The 50-State Campaign for Achievement Now. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia.

The heart of 50CAN’s model is recruiting and supporting local leaders who build citizen movements in their states to ensure that every child has access to a great public school.

We already have four amazing leaders running four campaigns for reform in Maryland, Minnesota, New York and Rhode Island. And today I’m thrilled to introduce you to another extraordinary leader who will join their ranks as the head of the newest CAN in the 50CAN network.

I’d like you to meet Jonathan Cetel, the founding executive director of PennCAN: The Pennsylvania Campaign for Achievement Now. Click here to get to know Jonathan and learn how you can join with him in this new effort to ensure great public schools for all.

Like his fellow executive directors, Jonathan stands out as an exceptional leader who has dedicated his career to improving the public schools in his state. This passion for expanding opportunities for Pennsylvania students to achieve their dreams led him from the classroom as a Teach For America corps member at Morrison Elementary School in Philadelphia to a grassroots campaign to bring more funds to under-resourced districts through Good Schools Pennsylvania to his work to grow the amazing network of KIPP schools in Philadelphia in his role as their director of strategic initiatives.

Under Jonathan’s leadership, PennCAN will join together with a powerful group of committed education reform organizations across Pennsylvania to make the most of the big opportunities this year in the Keystone state to secure big changes for kids.

The 50CAN model is built around the conviction that all politics is local but locals shouldn’t have to start from scratch.

We are thrilled to be working with Jonathan to ensure great schools for all Pennsylvania students. Because great schools change everything.
