More about Dina Puente
I aspire to be like Maya Angelou. Here's why:

She was a great poet, writer, and civil rights activist. My favorite reading that she wrote is "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings." It depicts her personal life, her struggles, and tells her story. She was an inspiration to black people and women. I believe in fighting for civil justice along with educational justice. Activism has a lot to do with that, I have participated in rallys to show this. This is why I admired her.

Why I love my job:

I love my job because I get to build relationships with families, schools, community leaders, elected officials, and legislators. I get to share my story and tell everyone who I am and what I stand up for. I am an educator and family advocate. I work with an exceptional team! We support families in finding the best quality education that their child deserves.

My connection to public schools:

My connection to public schools is my teaching background. I have worked in education for about 10 years. I love working with students and their families. I advocate for students', families, and educators to improve our educational system. I also believe that every child deserves that high quality education no matter where they live!

What I’m bad at:

I'm really bad with deadlines. I'm a bit of a procrastinator. I think I work better under pressure, but sometimes my due dates gets the best of me.

The image that represents why I work at 50CAN:

I chose this image because it says a lot of what I like to do. Working with families is my passion and building those long lasting relationships is what I do best!
