Marc Porter Magee Ph.D is the CEO and founder of 50CAN: The 50-State Campaign for Achievement Now. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia.

50CAN is, ultimately, about people. We are working to build an organization where talented advocates are able to do the best work of their lives in a culture that supports and sustains them.

So, it is very special when a new leader joins the team. I’m excited to share with you the news that next month Derrell Bradford, one of the most talented and committed education advocates in our country, will take on the role of executive director of NYCAN: The New York Campaign for Achievement Now.

Derrell has spent more than a decade on the front lines of our movement and has emerged as a leading voice for change, from his work as a founding member of Excellent Education for Everyone to his efforts as the Executive Director of Better Education for Kids.

He will join a strong group of advocates in the Empire State as they work to give voice to the parents, students, teachers and community members pushing for high-quality schools for all kids.

I invite you to follow Derrell on Twitter @Dyrnwyn and join him as he embarks on the next chapter in his fight to ensure every child has the opportunity to attend a high-quality education, regardless of address.
