Thibaut Delloue
Policy Fellow, Florida Charter Institute

Thibaut Delloue is a Policy Fellow at the Florida Charter Institute, where he writes about charter school policy and best practices and supports the organization’s research efforts. His writing has been featured in publications including Education Next, The 74, Real Clear Education, the Thomas B. Fordham Institute’s Flypaper, The Orlando Sentinel, and The Tallahassee Democrat.

Thibaut is originally from France and immigrated to the United States at the age of 9. He began his education career as an ESOL teacher with Education First in both China and the Boston area, where he taught students of all ages. Following his teaching years, during which he also taught summer reading enrichment classes, Thibaut became a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy. He served two tours at sea, both on the destroyer USS Carney, based in Spain, and on the USS Coronado, an experimental test ship based in San Diego, CA. Thibaut published a book about his experience in the Navy titled The Wardroom: An Officer’s Tour at Sea and the Crisis of the U.S. Navy.

After completing his military service in 2020, Thibaut re-entered education and worked for several years as an operations director at a charter middle school in Nashville, TN and a K-8 Public School of Innovation in North Charleston, SC. Drawing from his personal and professional experiences in varied educational contexts and his international background, Thibaut is passionate about the role of literacy and language in education.

Thibaut holds an undergraduate degree in History and Philosophy from the University of New Hampshire and a master’s degree in Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies from Stanford University’s School of Education. He resides in Charleston, SC with his wife and young daughter. When not opining about education or spending time with his family, he can usually be found surfing and enjoying the waters of the Lowcountry.
