Randy Smoot
Executive Director, Dropout Recovery Schools, Oakmont Education

Randy Smoot is an accomplished leader dedicated to transforming educational outcomes for at-risk students. With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s in Public Administration, Randy has built a career rooted in service, innovation, and impact.

His professional journey began as a juvenile probation officer, where he focused on addressing truancy issues and empowering youth. Transitioning to education, Randy served as a school director for two dropout recovery schools, achieving remarkable success. During his tenure, his schools graduated over 500 students, earned the prestigious “School of the Year” title twice, and were recognized as the “Model Schools” for their outstanding performance and student support initiatives.

In his current role as Executive Director at Oakmont Education, Randy oversees nine dropout recovery schools across Ohio, serving over 3,000 students annually. These schools are uniquely focused on Career Technical Education, offering students opportunities to earn nationally recognized certifications in fields such as Construction, Healthcare, Business, Manufacturing, Culinary Arts, and Cosmetology. By equipping students with practical skills and industry-recognized credentials, Randy ensures they are prepared for meaningful careers in high-demand industries.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Randy is passionate about sports and fitness. He has dedicated over 12 years to coaching Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball, Varsity Softball, and AAU basketball. In his free time, he enjoys working out, running, and watching sports.
