Kristin Algier
Partner, The New Teacher Project (TNTP)

Kristin Algier is a partner for The New Teacher Project (TNTP), an organization dedicated to supporting change in public education in pursuit of students achieving their goals. Kristin leads the organization’s work in New Mexico, guided by the principle that every child deserves equitable access to an excellent education that affirms their culture and identity.

Prior to joining TNTP in 2021, Kristin served as a pandemic-tested principal at Uplift Heights Primary, a college-preparatory, International Baccalaureate school in West Dallas. In this role, she helped guide the campus of over 1000 students to a fifteen-point gain and perfect score on comparative growth metrics on state assessments. Kristin has extensive experience in charter and public schools, as well as educational policy, finance, leadership development, advocacy and administration. Kristin believes both public and charter schools bring value to the education sector and we can all learn from the strengths of one another’s systems.

Kristin began her career at Garcia Elementary in Houston ISD as a Teach for America corps member. She later worked at YES Prep North Forest as an interventionist and literacy specialist before returning to Houston ISD as an assistant principal. She graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma with a Political Science degree and earned her MBA from Rice University in partnership with the highly selective Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP). In her free time Kristin volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), supporting and advocating for kids in foster care. Kristin lives outside Dallas with her beloved dog Rex, found by her students during recess at her TFA placement school.
