Jonathan Cetel is the founding executive director of PennCAN. He lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The best part of my job is meeting educators, parents and students from across the state who are dedicated to improving our public schools.

Today I get to introduce you to a few of them.

In PennCAN’s new video series, four advocates share their experiences with a stagnant system and explain why they’re urging lawmakers to reward excellence and give students the freedom to succeed.

Listen to their stories here.

One advocate is a principal serving the kids from the neighborhood where he grew up. Another is a former teacher who witnessed the devastating impact seniority-based layoffs had on her school. And another is a mother of two describing her neighborhood school’s transformation from bad to great.

Their stories may be different, but each of these advocates has one thing in common: an unrelenting conviction that great schools change everything.

Please take a minute to hear what they have to say and ask your family and friends to do the same.
